Bicycle Tour of Lake Champlain Island 5th Annual

Bicycling Date: Fri August 16, 2019 - Sun August 18, 2019

All the charm of Lake Champlain Islands in 35-65 flat miles over scenic Vermont pavé roads (read: some unpaved sections), country stores, Adirondack & Green Mountains views, & dips in refreshing lake water.

The trip has all ingredients for relaxing yet active weekend: several stops at state parks, scenic views at every turn, multiple stops for locally fresh food, & frequent beach stops for opportunities to dip in the water. Plan on three days of riding: Friday morning through Sunday afternoon.

On one of the days we will cross into Canada: bring your passport & appropriate visa for non US citizens. The Inn at the Isles is rustic with basic amenities & services, similar to a two-star motel. Food is fresh, water view is beautiful, & hosts are friendly.

The Old Schoolhouse is a charming hostel of thee old classrooms with no more than six people same gender, twin beds, no bunks, blackboards, books, gracious hostess, & delicious breakfast.

Bicycle Tour de Force of Maine

Bicycling Date: Fri September 27, 2019 - Sun September 29, 2019

Buckle your helmet, clip your shoes, turn on your camera, & join us on a tour de force. This is not to rest & relax. Rather, it is to jam pack all the best that Maine has to offer in one weekend: rocky coast, lobster, lighthouses, diners, Bar Harbor, bakeries, Acadia National Park Drive, frigid water dip, & Mt Desert.

It will even coincide with Adventure Cycling Association's Bike Your Park Day. We will celebrate our public lands on Saturday with a ride through Acadia National Park.

We leave Boston Friday morning to arrive Rockland for early lunch. We start the ride at 12:00 before returning for dinner. Lodging will be in the same location for two nights near Rockland. We travel on Saturday for a tour of Park Drive & Mt Desert, dinner in Bar Harbor, & travel back to sleep. Our final day will bring us to Portland for a lighthouse studded tour, early dinner in downtown Portland, & drive back to Boston.

Distances are 50-80km daily at intermediate & advanced options, including the famous carriage gravel roads in Acadia.

Reserve your own lodging-we will recommend a group site. Pay as you go for park entrance fees, meals, & other expenses. We drive close to four hours daily-we will help with plan to share a car.
