Essex Bay Stand-Up Paddle Boarding

Forty Plus Date: Mon September 3, 2018

The Essex River area is a beautiful place for paddle boarding. Wrap up the summer by exploring the peaceful scenery of the salt water marsh. We will meet at 3:00 at the rental facility (Cape ANN SUP, 35 Dodge Street/ Boat marina, Essex, MA) to fill out rental applications, secure payment, put on life vests, adjust paddles to appropriate height, put on sunblock, and put on life vests. Between 3:15 to 3:30 we will do some brief introductions, provide beginner instruction, and get out on the water. Paddle is roughly from 2 to 2.5 hours going upstream, and then coming back during high tide. This is an easy paddle readily adapted for beginners. Falling off and taking a swim is optional.

Rent a paddle board from Cape Ann SUP or bring your own board. Cape Ann SUP is offering a discount to AMC paddlers/ this specific group so let them know you are with the AMC when you call. Make sure you call them when you sign up- you will be responsible for payment and securing your board to make sure they have enough when we show up.

Participants must know how to swim and be comfortable in water.

Afterwards we will go to JT Farnham's for seafood. This is a cash only restaurant and may be a bit crowded so we may need to wait a bit…but is supposed to be the best place in the Essex area for seafood.
