Carters Winter Weekend

Hiking/Backpacking Date: Fri February 16, 2018 - Sun February 18, 2018

Join us for a weekend of fun in the snow and on the 4,000-footers! We'll spend the weekend at a hostel in NH, allowing us to hit the trails early in the morning and enjoy the evening with the group. This is a winter weekend for experienced winter hikers who have 4000-footer experience in the winter, and who are comfortable with longer day hikes in the winter. Full winter gear, including crampons and snowshoes, will be required.

Our peak goals for the weekend will be all three of the 4,000-footer Carters: Carter Dome (4832'), South Carter (4430'), and Middle Carter (4600'). Weather and trail conditions will determine whether we summit those peaks in one day hike, two day hikes, or not at all. There are several smaller and more sheltered hikes in the area should we need to change our plans. Maximum distance for the single-day summit of all three peaks would be 13.5 miles and 4800' of elevation gain; if we divide the peaks into two day hikes we would be covering 10-11 miles and 4000' of elevation gain per day.
