Family Pack Monadnock Hike, Peterborough, NH

Family Date: Fri December 28, 2018

Pack Monadnock Mountain at 2,290 feet, is the highest peak of the Wapack Range of mountains. We'll ascend up the Wapack trail, 1.4 miles, to the summit. Our return route will be 1.4 miles down the Marion Davis Trail (or the road, conditions - dependent). The ascent up the Wapack Trail from the parking lot is very steep at first, but levels out closer to the summit. The trail may be covered with snow and possibly, ice. Therefore, traction devices (e.g. microspikes) are recommended (Family Outings has some available to lend). The route is total of ~ 1000 ft of elevation gain. We will go at moderate pace, for ~ 3-3.5 h. The goal will be to go at a pace that allows us to stay warm, but not get sweaty (layering will also factor in). The views of Mt. Monadnock and the valley are great.

Hiking/Backpacking Date: Sat January 5, 2019 - Sun January 6, 2019
